    Just a little fun,
Lets see how many blunders cinema makes when it comes to bikes,
    Let me kick off with,

1/ The lead always has to slap his or her visor shut with the flat of their hand
2/ every bike seems to have at least 16 gears (Terminator 2, I lost count of the amount of times John Conner up shifted)
3/All bikes are dubbed to sound like manic 2 stroke grand prix bikes
4/ Throttles are always snapped wide open

and the worst one I can think off

Torque....that film is just sooooooooo bad!!!!!

LOL... the first one that came to mind for me was the two stroke sound for ALL bikes in most movies.. then the upshifts...

Guess you covered them all. lol

BIKER BOYZ. oh my god. i only caught the scene at the end of the movie where they race on a dirt road, with street bikes no less, and one of them starts hallucinating and images of his friends or whatever appear next to his head while driving made me almost have an aneurism.

what did they get wrong? making a movie called BIKER BOYZ that wasn't homoerotic porn.

I like it when bikes or cars can squeal their tires on dirt roads.

How about jumping cars and ditches with no ramp , flying 100 feet then landing with no dammage. They are even sitll clean and shiny. Makes me laugh every time.

See "cool as Ice" at the beginning vanilla ice rides his gsxr off the road into the ditch then jumps over the fence off an invisible ramp then lands safely on the other side and slides to a "cool as ice" stop (in dirt!!... on a gsxr!!) at the end of the movie he uses a corvette as a ramp and jumps the car with his girl on the back!! Classic cheesy motorcycle movie or an hour and a half of Vanilla Ice masturbating on a camera in shameless self promotion to save his failing career?? you decide!

Funny clip, the producer should be the one punched in the gut by the girl. That kind of stuff is a little far from reality.

the worst is when they make light of people crashing on motorcycles, to the point where they use it as comedy. case in point wild hogs. it was a running joke in the movie that william h macy kept crashing his bike, to the point that his friends would poke fun at him for it. when in some of the crash scenes the situation would have totaled his bike, and others if they happened in real life he could have actually died. and that for some reason was supposed to be interpreted as funny.

I can barely stand watching movies anymore. They seem to be just one long series of tired old cliches. Plus, my wife gets weary of me commenting about all the impossibly stupid unrealistic scenes. Oh yeah, and don't get me started on the stinking shaky cam technique that's so in vogue now. Nauseating.

    Ha! Excelent guys!!!!

Yup, Cinema really needs to have a good look at bikes and try again....

Mission impossible 2 for example, Triumphs with magic changing tyres!

although very rarely they get it right

Worlds Fastest Indian is a rare work of genious
as is a Film called "Restless Natives" brilliant film from the early 80's about a couple of young lads holding up Busses on a Suzuki 125.
    Brilliant film.

Torque and Biker Boyz are definetly er laughable at best!

I already posted this when I found out Wizards latest aquisition is a Kawasaki z200.
"Adventures of a plumbers mate". More of a farce than a bike film - well the toilet seat is made from gold - but worth watching for the dress that gets torn off.

For good bike films, Mad Max and Stone (Both Australian) do it for me!

+1 on Mad Max( Mel Gibson before he left Australia and became famous )

and Stone, both mainly featured Kawasaki Z900,s. Stone, at the time , held the record for the highest dive of a cliff into the ocean by a bike and rider. The bike is still there if someone wants to dive down and get it. Also,Stone used a lot of actual bike gang members ,who were rumoured to have been payed in booze and drugs. All stunts are real stunts, this was way before the invention of CGI.

Murray, Hazard pay if I have ever hear of it.

But guys keep in mind most of the films are not documentaries and therefore are not subject to the rules of reality.

The director is getting what he or she desires in regards to moto action. The bikes are not a main part of most of these movies, otherwise they would spend the time with a consultant

I dont like it as much as you guys what they "feed" us from holywood, but we "eat" it.
Nothing in real there, think about all the fake chests, liposuctions, hair inplants, and such. They are all fake, and so is Holywood. So by asking that fakers make a true to life movie, thats not going to happen often. If it did, a majority of the time it would flop and millions would be lost.

Typically they show a sport bike, then for stunts switch to a dirt bike in the same plastic, but you can still see skinny tires and long forks and shocks. Then after the "Stunt" the bike pulls to a stop and the sport bike is there again.

Hi again ,just spent the last half hour watching segments from Mad Max 1. on Youtube. I,d forgotten just how good and real the motorcycle work is in this movie, considering it,s at least 30 yrs old. Got to be some of the best cycle stunts ever ( tho, obviously they used a dummy for the high speed head on crash into the semi trailer in the end scene.) Some very good 4 wheel action as well. Check it out on Youtube ,manysegments from the movie there ,I,m sure you will enjoy it .................

    Cheers,Murray

It's worth watching with the directors commentary on (added more recently for the DVD)
It was an independent film and they just plain lucked out with Kawi. They sent letters to all kinds of companies asking for just about anything they wanted to donate and Kawisaki sent them like a dozen KZ1000's all shiny and new in the crates. (which they immediately dirtied up cosmetically) The only bikes in the movie that are not KZ1k's are a few which are the personal bikes of the stuntmen.
They didn't realize it at the time but the stunt when Goose biffs it broke world records for distance, air time and so on.

Quite possibly my favorite movie of all time.
