as of today I am the proud owner of an 82 xj750. I was reading about the oil change and apparently there is second oil drain plug hidden near the shaft drive??? I looked all over and couldnt find it. Is there a pic anywhere? also how much gear oil am I supposed to put into the shaft drive? thanks

Don't find the second middle gear plug. Chances are you'll shear it off.

The shaft drive (diff) takes oil upto the fill hole. I don't know off the top of my head how much that is. If it runs out a bit it's full.

thanks. you mean after the oil cycles in the diff it will no longer be up to the fill hole? Also I didnt change the filter and I put 2.5 quarts of oil in the engine. It was still low. I added half of a quart. Is this normal?

Fill to the bottom of the threads for gear oil. Right next to the filler hole (for engine oil) is the exact amount (of course it's a metric measurement)...

    If I recall mine says 2,500cc's on a 650. That's 2.64 quarts.
