Well, I think it is time for me to move on. I love my bike, but I really have my heart set on a sportbike. This one has the motor, but not the correct weight or suspension.

    The details:
1985 Maxim X in black paint, original
    36,000 miles
Only mod is the Dyna coils and wires. I will include a full clear windshield with the bike.
Good cosmetic (some scratches and one ding on tank with no paint taken off, a gash on sissy bar) never been down. Some of the engine block paint is faded.

    Great mechanical:
I have done ALL of the scheduled maintenance 1,000 miles ago. This re-zeroed the maintenance schedule. I have been running Amsoil (full synthetic), and I will change the oil right before you take it away if you like.
    I have two issues left:
    1) possible petcock problems - I am getting that fixed this weekend by a rebuild.
    2) Tiny coolant leak - I am going to replace the washer/gasket for this leaking external line fitting this weekend.

The carb tuning is not perfect (read: not dyno-tuned, but I am going to put the colortune on there one more time this weekend.)

I would put pictures up, but you guys know what this bike looks like. No scratches show up in the pictures.

I am asking $2250 locally, but if an enthusiast (one of you guys), wants it, I would sell it for less (just ask, or tell me if you don't think that is anywhere close to fair).

    Thanks!

Man those are some sweet bikes. And yours is no exception. sure wish I had a barn or shop to keep more bikes in.
Not sure what they go for in your neck of the woods but sounds like a good price to me.

    I asked $1,800 for my 82 xj650 maxim.

I am lowering my price to $1800.

There is a new battery in the bike since the last post, the petcock kit is in and working well.

The best plus, is that it is running better now than it has since I got it! :D

However, the coolant leak is still there.

    Any questions, please ask.

    Geeze ... Geeze!!!

That's two-G's. That's what I think you should pull-down for that baby. There's a whole sub-culture, out there, that are whacko for the 20-valve engine.

When that plant comes wrapped-up in as fine-a-looking bike as yours ... it's OK for you to get top-buck!

It being a Texas bike in-all, makes it worth a bit more 'cause you're down there where stuff don't rust and corrode much.

Well, I reduced my price to $1600. Rick, do you still want it? Or anyone else? I am going to be fixing the small coolant leak I have within the week. I found out it is from a rubber fitting behind the water pump.

She is running better than ever!

    No way.

I running out of excuses for having two running bikes and enough parts for a third.

All I'm hearing, these days, is that same, tired, old, way-overused: "You can only ride ONE motorcycle" rant.

I bring another bike into my life, on the leading-edge of Holiday Season; and I'm dead!

They'll be red and blue strobes illuminating my neighborhood, a long band of Yellow Tape wrapped all around my house and my most recent Drivers Licence Photo reproduced on the sides of all new milk cartens.

beautiful bike richard. I'm with rick, you should start at 2gs and settle for no less than $1600.00 only now because the world already knows you'll take 16. What kind of sport bike are you looking for?

Well, I sold the bike today for $1600. It seems to me a fair price for end of November with a bike with "high" mileage, even though I don't think its too high. I am VERY sad to see it go, but I just couldn't wait anymore for a sportbike.

I am really interested in a SV650s, but at this point, I think I would also take a Ninja 250 or Honda F3.

yeah...the sv650s are quite a nice bike. I like the fairingless sv better than the faired one. Hondas 599cc hawk is a nice ride too! Glad to see you had success selling your X. If I would live near you I would of nabbed that in an instance. Those old and rare X's are still quite the screamers even today!
