hello all....I have put the new tire in the alloy rims after giving a good clean to the rim bead seating area. I put the valve in the stem and pump air but air is NOT FILLING UP..I can feel the air leak thru the bead/rim gaps as it has not taken its seat yet. What am i doing wrong..?? thnks in advance

You need a decent flow of air to push the wall of the tyre out to seat the bead. You could try a ratchet strap around the tyre to help compress it on the rim.

Remove the valve core to seat the bead. Use a strap too.

    +1 on the strap,

after fighting with mine for whole day, I eventually put a SMALL amount of heavy oil (80/90) along the bead where air was coming out, it closed the gap enough for the air to build up and the bead slid right on. Not sure if this was the right thing to do, but i have put about 500 miles on and no isses. Most of the oil was pushed out along the bead, and I wiped it off

    You aren't doing anything wrong.
You're following us ... who have passed before you.
    You are paying your dues.

Did you scream: "You ... GOT ... to be FUGGEN SHIDDEN me?"

    Sure you did!
    Worse than that, huh?
We all need to be thankful you don't work for the Post Office!

Lube the Bead with a strong solution of Dish Detergent and Water.
Put the Wheel laying on a Bucket or something so you get the Lower-sides Bead ... SEATED.
Have somebody else put the Air to it.
YOU lube the Tire Bead and Wheel Rim with the soapy solution.
Lift the tire uniformly and capture the Air.
Keep your fingers out of the way.

Thanks rick. I am doing tire change for both Maxim and maxim x at same time. Rears are done. The front tire - spitfire S11 is a PIA am still fighting with it. Lubed and filled/unfilled so manytimes. This part of job seem to be a tricky one.
