Thinkin about while i have my carbs removed, i might just yank the motor out of the frame so i can paint it. Anybody know the weight of the 650 motor. :?:

i read somewhere on here these folks lay the frame on it's side, and lift it off the engine.
its funny you post this cause i was thinkin the same thing. i think im gonna have to document it with a camera tho so i know how to get it back together, tho it must not be as tough as i think it is,
ill let the experts weigh in here,

With two people you shouldnt have a problem getting it out the side of the frame. One person on either side, me and a friend lifted mine out with no problems. But it is heavy so pick a strong friend.

You can lay the bike over on its right side and lift the frame off the motor.

Yeah the plan is to paint the motor flat black, with polished side covers and the valve cover to, plus i plan to leave the tips of the fins aluminum color which should look pretty cool.

So, you got the Engine Painted ... and the Frame nice and beautiful... and, you the Mill back in the Frame without no muss, no fuss and the least amount of anxiety.

I treat it more like an Amish Barn Raising.

    Hi Buchietee,
I tried the on the side method and had a bit of trouble but the straddle the bike method has worked twice without a hitch so far now... I took some pics and made a pictorial reminder for myself Here because I know I'm going to be scratching my head next time I do it.
    Hope it helps.
