I read somewhere, thought it was here but can't
find it on here. Riding lawnmower coils can be use on a
81 xj 650. Any truth on this. Thanks

Only if your lawnmower has a Yamaha 650 engine.

The coils from some of the other XJ lawnmowers would work too.

In all seriousness though, there are variations in coil specifications. They need to be compatible with the rest of the ignition system. If they're not right they might not work or even worse damage your TCI.

Maybe I'm behind the times, but aren't most lawnmower ignitions magnetos? Hence no removable coils.

Apparently it is the twin cyl. engine that can be used.
May be it is an older unit. Or I had a bad dream about it.
I used to dream about girls....lol
I have tried a few places in town for xj coils and was told not available.
Is there a place in Canada to get them? I how they are available somewhere.
    Thanks

Just about any 12V vehicle/lawnmower/snowmobile type will work provided it is rated at 30 amps or better (more is good in this instance). If you don't know how to wire it up, you are better served buying the correct part from Chacal (and he charges a reasonable price).

I thought I read it somewhere. of course the coil would have to have two plug wires on it.
Who is or where is Chacal.
    Thanks
