Got the jets from chacal put everything back together, but I cannot get the carbs back on for the life of me. Whats the secret? There has got to be one cause I litterally fought with it for like a half hour to no avail. And the air box is as far back as it'll go (which is maybe like 1/3" anyways. Dumb.) Any ideas how to get these bad boys back on?

Pull off the airbox to carb boots. Then the cabs should slide right in. Then lube the boots lightly with WD40 and try to put them back on. I scrunch them down and insert then into the airbox, then pull them out to connect to the carbs. After a few skinned knuckles and some swearing, you should be all set.

Be sure to bench sync and check float hights before you mount them!!!

i've found what works pretty good is to push the middle two air boots back into the air box and completely remove the outer two air boots. as for getting the carbs back into the intake boots, i use a couple of squeeze lever clamps (don't know exactly what they're called?) but they're long enough to reach to the front of the engine and pull the carbs into the intake boots.
    WD-40 is helpful.

i also use a 1/4" ratchet extension to push and pry on the air boots - it's strong, long and skinny, and there's no sharp edges to ruin the rubber.

it still takes plenty of cursing, but i can usually get the carbs back on and all buttoned up in about an hour.

edit: it also occurred to me to tell you that these carbs are hard to put back in for a reason: they want you to be absolutely, positively, beyond a shadow of a doubt, certain, for sure, no ifs ands or buts about it that you've thoroughly, meticulously, and painstakingly agonized over every aspect of them before you put them back on and wonder why the bike doesn't run right.

In the first picture what is the line comming off the brake caliper going down to the fork?

And good luck with the rebuild it is a good looking bike and when you get it running right you are going to love it. It will all be worth it.

Dont worry. I did not abondon this bike or this thread! Things have just been alot more slow moving then before thats all. Hopefully I will sell one of my cars here soon that way I can really focus on the Maha. I will more then likely take it to someone who knows bikes really well and have them work on it. That way I can have a reliable bike that someone else fixed and I didnt just halfass haha. I want to do some mods aswell but I am not sure how hard they are to do (differnt gauges, differnt headlight, differnt taillight ect.)

don'ttake it anywhere.. 1 if they will work on it they will charge waaayyyyy tooo much. plus if you do it yourself even if it takes alot of time you will know your bike and how to fix it if need be on the road instead of being at the mercy of whoever you find.

I am an impatient mechanic. I will work on my cars and everything no problem but alot of the time I want things done quickly, so I will just rush through something just to get it done but will do a halfass job along the way. We'll just see how this pans out. But thanks for the input, as it is always welcomed *thumbs up*
