Also, what would you guys recommend, from experience, for a 550 maxim.
I have always gone with dunlop but I want to spend as little as I can and still have a good, reliable tire. I'll still go through it before it's life expectancy. The ones I had were 10,000 mile tires and I did them in about 8,000... well the rear one anyway.
Anyway, need them soon and don't want to deal with a site I have never delt with before without first checking here.

I don't know how you can do much better than the Dunlops. They last well, are inexpensive, look good on Maxim bikes and are readily available. I ALWAYS buy tires via the internet because of the price difference. The last tire I bought was from Motorcycle Superstore. I saved over $100 off list. (The tire still cost just over $220). They ship for free.

got my bridgestone s11's from bikebandit. ducati123 coupon code gets you 10% off. got both tires in a couple days for about $125. next time however i'm getting a different front tire - the continuous center groove is no good

I just bought a Kenda 657 Challenger rear tire from chaparral-racing.com for $55 delivered. I put a 657 Challenger on the front this spring and like it so far. Can't speak for life expectancy but the reviews are great at bikebandit.com.

I've ordered from Tires Unlimited a couple times too. Always very satisfied with their price and they shipped super fast (although I'm only 180 miles from them).

Denniskirk.com is also a good source. The best price is going to depend on which mfg/model and when you are looking.

I run Bridgestone Spitfires on my Seca.

seriously- bikebandit.com i got my s11 spitfires for around 125 shipped, and i used the ducati123 code for 10% off... they're cheaper than polocks site, i priced them out when i was shopping.

but from what you're looking for, kenda challengers or bridgestone spitfires seem to be the best bet... and shipping was quite fast for bike bandit as well..

I use spitfire s11's on my 550 maxim and they are awesome. Work great for any style of riding in all weather conditions. I highly reccommend these. Already put about 4000 miles on em and there still great with not much tread ware at all

Just got a pair of Dunlop D404's in from Bikebandit.
$130 for the pair plus $7 shipping.
Bought the bike on s11's, can't say too much about them 'cause they're seriously wasted and haven't driven that much on them.
The s11 front has a continuous grove down the middle, some state that it tends to "grab" grooves in the road, others never noticed it though.

Check the date codes before mounting. I bought new "bargain" tires on Ebay that were actually ten years old. One season later the rear is badly checking.

So all you guys mount your own tires onto the rims at home? I can remember when I tried to mount a car tire to a rim. I think I invented a couple of new cuss words that day. I need a tire for my 400 and would certainly like to save some cash buying it online and mounting it myself.
