Hey, just signed up today and wanted to say hi. I just bought a 1981 XJ550 Seca a couple days ago. It needs some work, but thats why I bought it. I'm glad I found this forum, and I know I will have some questions in the near future...

This is the best place to start your ownership of one of these bikes. good thing about an xj is you'll learn a lot about wrenching. These bikes have a cool history and were revolutionary. They really made a jump in small performance technology and Yamaha hasn't stopped since.

Thanks guys. I've been poking around finding most of the questions I have are already answered. Right now I'm in the process of getting a new battery, clutch cable, oil pan and oil filter housing gaskets, and checking out the front and rear brakes. I'm just glad I finished up the rebuild on my wifes banshee, so I don't have to many parts laying around.

Hiya - I'm new here also - I also bought my ride this week - Luckily mine was run and seemed fine when purchased - Hopefully it still does after licenced, plated, and insured :p

I've already had some good info provided and a few questions answered.
