    Hi all.

Last year I tried to upload some photos, but without sucess - maybe files were too big or something.

Anyway, just a year late, I've added a couple of photos of my completed XJ build.

Take a look if you'd like - in gallery, under title of "NigeW's XJ"

This machine was built out of the remains of two bikes, and has since had bits (including a complete engine) out of two more!

    Thanks for looking, Nige

    Sharp looking bike.

Is that the right direction of rotation for the front tire? Looks backwards. Would think it would be trouble on wet roads.

Hey guys - I never spotted that front tyre 'till you mentioned it. Have ridden it in the rain with no probs but it certainly looks wrong now you've pointed it out.
    I will check that out.

    Me again...

Have just been out to check that front tyre fitment (and pretty sure I checked it when it was fitted) - Yes, it's correct.

It's the right way round for front wheel fitment - however, for rear wheel fitment it would be turned/reversed, thereby leading to the front and back tread pattern being directionally opposite in the photos.

It's an Avon, and I've had a look at my two GPZ600s (600 Ninja in the US) - guess what, the one that runs a Pirelli on the front has the tread running back from the centre, and the one with an Avon front has the tread running forwards, just as on the XJ. I presume it pushes water forwards and out from the wheel (thereby clearing a dry path for the rear wheel) and the rear just pushes it out and behind the machine

I wonder if this applies just to Avons, or do any other tyre manufactureres do this? Bet you're gonna be checking out every bikes' front tyres for the next week!

Nice bike, look's like it was worth all the work you put in to it.

I did a little research, and am now more educated on tire rotation.
I soo would have put that tire on backwards. Or at least I would have started to put it on backwards, and then halfway through seating the second bead, I would have noticed the rotation arrow... Doh!

Yes, yours looks good in the red/black scheme too. I like the exhausts - are they custom or off-the-shelf?

That's a relief. It looked wrong based on what I've read regarding hydroplaning and such. Like vedalkin said, I would have put it on backwards too.
