Bought a 1982 Yamaha Maxim 750. No idea which version it is. I think it is the J model.
When I got it, the signals were not working. The front left signal lens was shattered. I purchased a replacement set of front signals, then I started tracing the wires.
What a spaghetti dinner they are (I had no wiring diagram). I found a wiring diagram and it appears that I have a burned out turn signal relay.
Can I get a stock relay cheaply or should I just spring for a cheapie auto turn signal relay with the understanding that the cancelling unit won't work - I probably won't rely on that relay anyway.

    Sincerely,
    Spencer

I would go for the electronic relay, if you really want to keep the canceling feature there is a DIY on here somewhere you can do to modify it.

The stock relays are not cheap, Chacal has them for $80ish I believe, and you cannot get them from the dealer any more (not that it would be cheaper). If you don't care about the auto cancel (if it isn't burnt out also) then just grab a two contact electronic flasher unit. If you want the auto cancel to work, get an electronic flasher and an SDPT Relay (found a couple around amazon and such) and check out This post for how to wire it.

This worked for me, and it allows the use of LED lights.

Thanks for the info guys: I will probably do the LED mod after a few paychecks. I work a part time job and will have to spring for the increased cost - increased visibility option later.
I will look into the the electronic flasher unit as well.
    Again - thanks.

PS - anyone know how many quarts the engine case takes for changing the oil?
