hey all i was wondering if there is an upgrade or substitute for my 85 MPH speedo? after the carb work my max will do that in 3rd gear 4th and 5th pulls hard . id like to know in case i run ito a W.A.S.P or go over that dead end how fast i am going.
even my last 76 R90/6 read to 100mph wouldn't go that fast w/ fairing though.
    thanks,

i picked up the bike a couple of months ago carbs look like they had been worked on by kids with pliers and a hammer. i ordered a used set from someone on this site which were frozen up. and also had a broken float stand as my originals. i took the eight carbs and made 4 good ones.
bike fired up but had some problems with wide open throttle. i then wanted to install my pods, so removed carbs and air box. cut down air box. (now have a nifty storage box) took slides out again!!polished the hell out of carb bodies with Never dull cloth (polishing stuff) re-installed the slides, carbs , then pods .. bike runs perfect now. i think someone has punched out the baffles of the stock pipes. ..as posted on this sight many times . the flow of fuel has to match the flow of air through engine to burn properly. i lucked out and am using the jets that are in the bike. i did take mine to a bike shop and have the carbs synced. $40. buck was cheep. i did not have a YICS tool. the carbs are not that complicated. and cleaning them and putting them back together is time consuming (1st time around anyway) but doable for most with a little common sense. make sure to count turns in of adjustable jets turned on and put em back the way you found em after cleaning and polishing. and it will fired off just fine don't have to disassemble or touch carbs from rails.
    hope this helps.
