    need a new front tire for my 1982 650 maxim
    do i need to get an actual tire from an 82 650 maxim?
    or are there others that will suffice

    100 90 19 . Look at Kenda and bridgestone ...might be able to get the thread pattern fairly close to what you have . Many good reviews for these.

    Tires are not (generally) specific to one motorcycle; they're like car tires, you buy the size you need for your application.
