what would cause a bike to die when the clutch is disengaged and slowing down at a steady rate. i fiddled with float lvls the other day because they where a little low to what i could figure the lvl of fuel was well below the top of the float bowl. this is on a 1982 xj650 it was running fine except for start ups on warm days it need choke to start now with the lvl higher it starts fine no choke and stays running. i have cleaned the carbs a few months ago so thats good the idle jets are clean pilot jets are clean i dont know if the lvl of fuel is too much or what any ideas, also it kinda want to spudder a little on take off with alot of throtle didnt do that before the adjustment do i need to adjust the mixture screw there 2 1/2 turns out.

you may be running pretty rich and flooding it.

How did you check you float levels?

    Inline fuel filter?

no fuel filter your carbs maybe dirty again.

The mixture screw would be at whatever is needed to make the bike run correctly. Look up RickOmatic's tune by ear and try that.

You maybe just a bit out of tune.
