When opening throttle it seems pretty smooth, however when I let go off the throttle it takes a bit to get back to idle rpms. My guess would be I'm running (way) too rich. Any confirmation or ideas would be greatly appreciated.
I'll have to get some new plugs for a plug chop, but just wanted to see if my guess would be in the ball park.
    Cheers

Easy way to tell is pull the plugs and check the color.
It's kinda hard to say for sure without a peek at whats going
    in the cylinders.

I kinda figured, hence my last sentence :p
    Current plugs are already fooled.
Guess I'll head out to get some new ones.
Anything cheaper then $7 NGKs that will do for tuning purpose only?

If I foul a Plug during Tuniing, ...

I shoot the business end with Carb Cleaner and dry it off in the flame of a Propane Torch.

Then, ... I put the "Cleaned" Plug in a Cylinder that's OK.

    Re: throttle responds

So the old plugs were fouled weeks ago and they weren't getting clean. So i got some new ones. Plug chop reveals brand new, sparkling white plugs at 5 turns out :?
    AAAAAAAAAAARGH.
Probably doing something wrong being a newbie, but I'll have look around, plenty of topics on this forum and I'll give it another go tomorrow

    Re: throttle responds

I would park the bike at this point and hunt down the
    trouble.
5 turns out would be fine if the color was on the money.
    (although thats still alot)
If you run her that lean damage WILL occure sooner rather
    then later.
I had a similar prob with my #4 carb, No matter what I did
it run way lean-5 turns out and still white.
I pulled the carbs back off (third time),cleaned what looked
like a spotless carb, checked float hieghts (on the money)
And all the other good stuff that had already been done.
I never did find what caused the lean condition but it
went away after the last cleaning. PITA

$7 for NGKs? EACH? I get them for under $2 at AutoZone.

Hanging idle usually indicates out of sync condition but it sounds like you have an air leak or leaks somewhere too.

My bad I thought they $7 each for some reason but there are 2 in a package.
But yeah prices here in Canada are just insane compared to the US.
Yah, syncing the carbs got rid of the slow rpm drop.
No airleak to be found, not anymore anyway.

I know  It's WAY TOO lean. A quick look late yesterday shows a nice brown tan at idle though :?: (at 4.5 - 5 turns). I'll check again for airleaks, check float heights (while running) and otherwise I'll pull them again.
Also no idea what 4into1 the PO threw on there and the muffler looks/sounds pretty open so I might have some back pressure issues.

    Re: throttle responds

You get frustrated when the Carbs act like this.
The only thing to do is get to check every single aspect leaving no stone unturned.
Revisit the Cleaning process and make sure you can blow Cleaner through the Jets and Passages.
Check the Jets are the correct Jets and not a substitute.
Carefully install the rack insuring that Clamps are tight and providing a good seal.

((Checking the Jets also means READING the Number stamped on the Jet and cross referencing it to Specs.))

Make sure the Jets are in the right position.
    Particularly, ... AIR Jets.

Examine Manifolds for Air Leaks and Seal the Intake Manifolds to the Cylinder Head by adding a bead of RTV around the edges of the Manifolds when you have the Carbs off.

((Make sure you are getting a Vacuum by doing a Compression Test to measure the health of the cylinders.))

    Re: throttle responds

Yah it's kinda frustrating. But I've done my homework (=reading, reading, reading and reading some more, the posts on here are just endless.) so I expected nothing less than running into trouble after cleaning the carbs.
The reading also provided for me the understanding to be very, very extremely, over the top meticulous with every passage, miniscule hole, every corner and check, check, double check and then check again. So I know everything is in the right place and clean (knock on wood! :p ).
Manifolds were leaking and as you suggested are fixed with RTV while the carbs were off, no leaks no more.
I need to re-do the comp test, I did one before checking/changing valve shims which gave me 120psi on all 4, on a luke warm engine.

Right now i'm at about 3.5 - 4 turns out and have a nice tan from idle to about 3000rpm(under load) above that it's getting white, one at 7000 showed a nice tan once and doesn't seem to be repeatable.
