I can't tell if this thing is custom, or modified to fit from another bike. My bet is custom. I sent the guy an email but haven't heard back yet. Can anyone identify this swingarm?

It's NOT the stock swing arm off a xj550. The shocks mount one one each side on the outside rear.

Correct, it's not off a 550... HOWEVER it does appear to be a production part off a different bike, probably another Yammie. It's not off a 750 Virago or an XS400, those are box-section. Gotta start looking at early dual-purpose bikes.

It LOOKS nice, but he's totally hosed the geometry with it and I'll bet the bike is quite a handful to actually ride.

Cute though, but I'll bet a clean stocker is faster.

There was a video of it running and driving on youtube. It ran decent, but I wouldn't drive around too long...there's no pods or airbox at all!!!

I searched ebay forever looking for a swingarm that resembled that one, but no luck. I think it might be from something other than a yamaha adapted to fit. I typed yamaha swingarm and looked for over an hour.

My goal is to just clean up the look of the bike, keeping everything as simple as possible. I'd also like to lower it a tad without going hard struts.

It is similar to a RD350LC

    ****BINGO!****

Sho' 'nuf is, Googled some pics and that is indeed it.

Also discovered that the '82 RD350LC had the same color graphics as the '83 550 Seca. Go figure.

On a different note, I hadn't noticed the complete lack of intakes, and still with the stock CV carbs. I'm surprised it runs at all, with CVs running completely wide open like that, not even velocity stacks.

That would depend on what market it was for though, I've only ever seen the 550 Seca in either Silver or Black this side of the world and we only got the LC in white

We ran CV carbs with no airbox or velocity stacks on a sidecar engine (GSX1135) with no problems at all

I was going to suggest an early enduro or dual sport with the mono shock.
