GJHD*#*$&#(*VJFIF DARN IT!!!!

Idle Mixture screws. Two of four turn great. Nice and smooth. The other two, stuck like Han Solo in Jaba the Hut's lair. Tried the olive oil trick. Heating, cooling, heating, cooling, and finally PB Blaster.

Waited 2 weeks until I got paid to go to Sears and get their easy out kit for small screws. First one has zero luck. The brass must be too soft.

The second one? Snapped the head right off the easy out.

AHAHHAHAHHAHAHAAAAAAAAAAA!!!!!!!!

So my question is this: Do I need new carb bodies now? I know I can drill them out, but I worry about screwing up the threads and not having a tap that is the correct thread pitch.

Advice please. This is one of the few obstacles I have left!!!

 

Best advice: take the carbs to an automotive machine ship so they can propoerly jig up the carb bodies and use the correct size drill bit and tap to extract the screws. Absolute precision in the drilling operation is critical. Take $30 cash with you and call it good deal all around.........

 

Sounds good. Do you know the thread pitch involved here? I would think even a machine shop will have problems getting them out without having to freshen up the threads.

You have emailed me the new screws though so I know where I can get them. Thanks for that.
