SPEEDO GUAGE Light does not WORK on my MAXIM X ??????????

    Hi all
    The lights on temp and tach works but only speedo dont work..is it just the bulb thats died..How do i open up the speedo cluster..seems like its sealed intact. thnks

    If its the Maxim X the instrument bulbs are a press fit into round grey rubber holders. The holders are easily pulled out after you remove the the chrome casing around the speedo.

    I replaced all my old bulbs with wedge leds from superbrightleds.com and these are the way to go

    I found the LEDs to be TOO bright in the turn signals and high-beam indicator; but they are a definite improvement for instrument backlighting.

    I used 5-LED composite units and they work MUCH better than the old bulbs. I can actually read the instruments at night.

    After looking through some other posts about changing the instrument panel lights, I too bought the 5-way LEDs you guys recommended at http://www.hipoparts.com/product_info.php?cPath=74_69&products_id=568].

    I also ordered some red florescent needle paint because someone said it makes a big difference, but I'm not sure how to apply it yet, anyone have any tips? The lights and paint are being shipped right now, I'll post before and after pics when I install them.
