Here is a quick picture I just took to update how the bike is looking. Added the saddlebags yesterday and took it for a spin to verify the heat from the exhaust does not affect the pleather.
The supports are homemade and did it on the first try.
Was thinking about selling to upgrade to a V-twin motor but have had lots of fun making this bike mine.
Anyone know how to get the plastic back looking new or at least not fadded ?

Meguiar's Natural Shine is another good vinyl/plastic/almost everything restorer.

Why a V-Twin? Your bike will spank most V-Twins on the road...

That X seat looks a bit nicer than the standard airhead seat, too. I'd kind of like to find one for mine, too, and put a get pad or pillow pad in it.

I have been a Back to Black fan. It works OK and is readily available but it requires repeated applications and doesn't las very long. Maybe 30 days or so. My next detail job will feature "Forever Black" a black dye product that comes HIGHLY recommended from another forum. URL is

    http://www.foreverblack.com/about.html

I'm going to have to order it on line as there is only 1 retailer in Washington State. Give it a look.

OK when I say upgrade to a V-twin, it would be alot newer.
I love my XJ but this has been my only bike and am thinking maybe the grass is greener on the other side.
If I did upgrade it would be a v-star as my first choice.

i have 2 viragos and my maxim x i like the x much better its alout different then the v twins. the low end is nice on the v twins but dont make much more power at higher rpms then at lower rpms very flat powerband . drive 1 before you buy 1 .they might be your thing .but if you like the occasional romp the throttle for a thrill i dont think you will like them
