if anyone knows the rpms for the speed could you please post.

my speedo don't swing in full speed.

i know 55 is about 4700. as i had this bike once before. i have no idea what's after that. and speed around here is 75.

i go with the car flow. but when your out in the boonies. car flow isn't available.

i'd like a listing in 5k increments up to 7k if any one can gimme that please.

i was going to mount my blackberry for a gps speedo. but apparently none of the programs will work without internet signal. wished i still had my old windows mobile phone. they all worked on a deactivated phone.

    Re: tachometer for speed readings

around here the speed limit is 75 outside of the population. i had this model brand new when i was a senior in high school back in 84. so i know around 4700 rpm is 55 mph. but after that i have no idea. and 7k is my max rpm on the freeway.

i can't use my deactivated blackberry. if i can find a cheap arse old tomtom or something i'd be tempted to mount that. i bought a 12v cigarette plug to wire up. i just need something to plug in.

or the ratios are in your shop manual, measure your tire and get out a calculator

    Re: tachometer for speed readings

i bought one of those. but mounting something made for a bicycle onto a motorcycle is a whole different story.

it's not exactly an easy task to mount that sensor on the front tire. there has to be 1mm spacing.

    Re: tachometer for speed readings

mines a little different setup. i seen your pic once before and test mounted. i've got a 5mm gap. the sensor is a little thinner. and the magnet is a little o-shaped peace that don't protrude as far.

i wished they made a cheap gps speedo. youi can get software for free on phone. but an actual unit is boo goo bucks. pfft.

oh hell yeah, just the ticket i've been looking for. $18 for this mount. i have a friend that paid $100 from the local motorcycle shop. this'll be perfect for mounting and using my cell phone as a gps speedo. just gotta wire up the power supply now.

    Re: tachometer for speed readings

yesterday was the ride and using my brand new EVO cell phone mounted to my brand new cell phone mount. i had a 12v cigarette plug hooked to the battery. and a 12v phone charger run under the tank plugg into the cigarette plug. here's the results

    55 mph = 4500 r's
    60 mph = 4900 r's
    65 mph = 5300 r's
    70 mph = 5700 r's
    75 mph = 6100 r's
    80 mph = 6400 r's
    85 mph = 6800 r's
88 mph = 7000 r's that was all the breath she had.

these numbers are GPS SPEED. your mechanical gauge will read about 7 - 10% percent higher. mine reads 30% slow.
