Never done it. IF you do you better be real careful too deep and your forks would be ruined and leak.

I would guess those ears are solid cast aluminum and could be cut and polished accordingly.

I know they shave forks on other bikes. I'm sure it can be done on these bikes.

I remember seeing that someone else on here has done it... I dont remember where I saw it though. It looked really clean.

I didn't shave my forks but I did polish them and they look sweet. I need to touch up some areas though.

If you have harbor freight near you just buy a buffing and polishing wheel rouge kit I think I bought mine for around $5.00 to $7.00. It comes with red rouge and white polishing rouge and two wheels that you can use on a drill.

I had to scrape off the clear coat first it was all dull dingy etc. Scraped off like old yellow varnish on furniture.

It really doesn't take long to get them polished up.

I did mine in a stepped process:

First I used a cutoff wheel on my dremel to get the large chunk off:

Be careful with the brake side as you'll have to reshape it a bit, I marked out my lines with a sharpie before I cut:

Then I used the flap disc on my grinder and then progressively finer wet sand paper to finish it off. Here's one done compared to one with the first major cut:

    Here's the shaped brake side:

I didn't have to worry about polishing too much because I painted my lowers:

Just take your time and don't take too much off at a time. I think it's a real clean look.

Thanks to all for your input. I have already stripped and final polished mine. Then since I am going without a fender thought Id like to shave these supports off. I will post my progress. thanks again.
