Just curious if anybody know what I could glue the little broken piece with? It still will hold fine without it but if I can fix I it may as well.

I must have cracked it when prying off the little metal washers. They were all rusted out.

I gave them a good sanding and am planning on painting them.

You can try this glue called seal-all. You can find it at autozone, it works pretty well I think.

    Thanks, just had an idea...

Figure I will try to use epoxy and epoxy a metal washer on top of each hole at the back. I check and there is still enough of the stud protruding for the locking washers. If I ever need to remove the plastic again I will have something to pry against.

jb weld is the shit. that seal all crap don't work. after 5 days it starts turning into a powder that you can just scrape off. don't even bother with seal all.

Epoxy a piece of Vinyl on to the back of the Cover.
Use several clamps to make a tight and permanent bond.
Cut and shape the Outside edge.

Measure for the Center and Drill the right sized hole.
Rough-up the Vinyl surface with 80 Grit Sand paper.
Take a Washer and stick a rolled-up 3X5 Card inside.

Support the edge off the side of your work bench.
Use 2-Inch Masking Tape and create a "Dam" around the area to be repaired.

Mix some Epoxy and apply some to the Washer.
Feed the 3X5 Card through the Drilled Hole.

Mix a healthy amount of epoxy.
Add just a bit more hardener to make it "Loose"
Dump the Mix on the Vinyl.
Spread it to the edges and all-over the repair with a plastic fork.
Drag some of the Mix onto the Cover.

    Let cure.
    Remove tape.
    Remove 3X5 Card
    SUPPORT
    Sand
    Prime
    Paint.

The side covers are ABS plastic. If you have a company local to you (Tap Plastics) that can sell you a scrap piece of ABS the same thickness you can replace the broken ear and edge glue the new piece in its place. Then back the repair with another piece of ABS extending out on all sides gluing along the entire surface. File, sand, and finish. You can use ABS cement. Your total repair cost might run $3.

I have fixed cracked fairings this way with perfect success. Just back the crack on the inside of the fairing with strips of ABS and when it sets it will be as strong as the unbroken material around it.

The KEY to the whole equation. Anything else will just "bounce off" even if it appears to work in the first place.
