WTB - XJ series bike EDIT: FOUND ONE

    I want to get a project bike for the summer and I'm looking for someone in the ottawa, ON area who is selling one. PM me or post here for more info. I'm looking for an 86 or older model. and I'm also thinking around 650cc but the size isn't a deal breaker.
    EDIT: found a running 82 XJ750. good condition.

    I have an 82 XJ 750 and it has 14,000 miles on it. This bike is complete and needs a good aluminum polish. Runs great but I have not checked the rear brakes yet.

    the only 86 or older xj you're going to get is a maxim 700 or 700x, or if someone imported a 900 from aussie...

    or.. if you buy a seca 2..

    Probably selling the 81 Maxim 550 I picked up a couple months ago. Main problem is: Can't get a title from the PO.

    Only things it needs to ride: oil filter housing ORing (drips from the cover when running, haven't touched it since waited on title)

    Otherwise it needs the Tach sending unit replaced - tach doesn't read
    New battery. Jumps from another battery, push starts fine.
    All 6 gears engage well.
    Could use an oil change and carb cleanout.
    Intake boots are a little dry externally.
    Missing right side battery cover / plastic.
    Tank started surface rusting, but inside is clean & shiney.

    Looking for what I have into it, $400. Otherwise I'll prolly be parting it out in the next few weeks.

    As I recall we're about a 6 hr trip, one way. I dunno what you can do about the title up there though, in NYS I need to go through a mile of loopholes.

    Hey, schooter-- if he is looking for an 86 or OLDER xj-series bike, that allows for the: xj400, 550, 650, 700, 700X, 750, 900, 1100, Maxims, Secas, Midnight Maxims, turbos, etc...... Basically it rules out the Seca II, and the newest stuff. All the others ARE either 86 or OLDER. And, he did say that he is thinking around the 650 area, but size isn't a deal-breaker. :)
