Ok my name is James and I was at Army Reserve Drill this weekend and a buddy just bought a XS 650 bobber. And he let me take it for a spin and I am hooked. I search all last night for one. I was driving through town and came across a 1980?? 750 Maxim for 200 dollars. It has a dented tank, cranks over( no start), only 8800 miles, and clean title. I it worth taking a shot? And who makes a hardtail kit for it? I appreciate help. Thanks

no hardtail kit, and you could make double parting out, so i think its safe

    Worth a 2-Hundred Dollar gamble?
    Affirmative.

The Bike is worth that and more in selected parts.
Carbs, Side Covers, Airbox and boots, will easily garner $400.00 and up if sold separately.

Buy a Workshop Manual and find a Motor Pool Specialist Chicken in a Frypan who needs some Poker stakes or cumshaw dough and a few extra Beer Vouchers and bet him 20-Bucks he cant get it running in 5-hours.

I will go get in the morning. I have been doing research the last few hrs and I think I can make a decent bobber out of it. I figured a clear title is worth 200 easy. Thanks I will post it up when I get and start the teardown. It will be a while since I have to finish my K5 first. Thanks everyone.
