I had an idea for a motorcycle accessory: I have noticed that on motorcycle boots there is often firm padding on top of the toe where the boot comes into contact with the shift lever. Now I know I should be wearing motorcycle riding boots but fact is I don't but would like to have a piece I could just strap around the toe area of my left shoe so it would have a firmer surface to press against the shift lever and also so that shifting does not cause undue wear to the top of my left shoe. Does such a device exist? If so, where would I procure it? If you have any ideas they would be much appreciated.

Piece of good leather with a velcro strap sewn on to go around your shoe would probably do.

Somebody makes straps that go around your toe. I think they're nylon, supposed to reduce wear on the shoe. I don't know if they have a hard surface though. I imagine any motorcycle apparel shop such as CycleGear would have them as well, and maybe even a dealership if you have one near you.

A pair of steel toe boots does the trick for me.

Quit your crying. I had a guy ride out of the shop on a crotch rocket wearing sandals last week. He didn't have anything between his toes and the shifter.

I think he makes a valid point...

I say ride in cheap shoes. Throw them away when they wear out.

When that girl pulled out on me and my foot got caught under the shifter, breaking the side cover, I was glad I had boots on.
