First the naming convention - :)

The whole series starts with XJ.
Then the displacement ( XJ 650)

Then is the seca/turno or nothing indicator, then is the year of the bike.

    My bike is a xj 6650 h ( the h means 1981, g would be 1980, j would be 82 (skipping the letter i.)

    A xj650 rj would be a 1982 seca 650.

If your bike is a 83 750 seca it would be a xj 750 rk

The exception to this is the turbo model - it is an L model instead of an R for seca... so a xj650LJ is a 1982 Seca 650 turbo.

So what is your bike - from the small images and you saying 750 - then it is a xj750r ( with some trailing letter between h and ? designating the year...)

    80 was a G
    81 was a H
    82 was a J.

Your bike is a 750? So you know that it is an XJ 750 _J

It doesn't look like a Maxim, so it is a Seca. There were no turbo 750's as far as I know... so that means it is an R

    XJ 750 RJ

    editing title thread...

When posting a new thread please title it appropriatelly. This way I don't have to edit them. If everyone titled them "hey woot or robert" then nobody would know what the treads are about by just looking at their titles and pretty soon the whole forum would be a mess. Please see the posting rules at http://xjbikes.com/forums/index.php?threads/203

Your bike is a 1982 XJ750 J Maxim. The tell tale signs are the triangle side covers, the front fender that only has one bar thing going to the fork while the Seca has two and last of all it has the Maxim gas tank. The Seca gas tank goes in for your legs. Also it’s a 82 and not a 83 because the 83 had round front head light and yours has the two square set up.

LOL - I ride when there isn't salt on the road, however, I have a few friends that ride year round.

My bike is perpetually filthy as a result of my almost all weater riding... it'll be above freezing today (actually been a very mild winter here)

You've got better weather than I do - I might have to pop by and visit
(I've got alot of family over there)

    Cheers,
    woot.
