    Surf's UP!

First, figure out what you want and/or your price range, then get surfing.

There are a LOT of tire deals on the internet; some places run sales occasionally, you mainly have to know what you're looking for to start.

http://www.chaparral-racing.com/home are known for good tire prices, as are http://www.denniskirk.com/jsp/common/Frontpage.jsp plus Bike Bandit quite often has special discounts running: http://www.bikebandit.com/tires/c/a642336

I'm lucky, I have an all-inclusive single location tire store somewhat near me that does everything from big trucks to motorcycle tires. They charge less to mount/balance tires bought from them than carried in, and so far, they've met or beat any internet price I could show them. Plus they have the equipment to properly mount and high-speed balance motorcycle tires so for me it's a win-win and I don't have to wait more than 1 day.

Start asking your local tire stores if they sell and mount morotcycle tires. I have a Cycle Gear store near me and they run sales all the time. If I buy from them mounting and ballancing is only 20$ per tire. Every other place around me charges 40$ per tire. I can usually get a set installed for around 180$.

I bought a cheap set off ebay last year for my xj700. IIRC, they cost about $110 for the set including shipping. I installed them myself so there was no installation cost. They are certainly not the world's best tire but were a serious improvement over the 20+ year old original skins.

I would say your best bet is looking around town first. Ask your shops for their motorcycle tires specials even over the phone. You might not have to wait the shipping time. Other than that I guess those shiko 712's might work for you.
