the best time was a 12.1, which coincided with my worst reaction time of .74, though my best reaction was .5
now, i dont know how much to trust the dyno, my first ran said 47 hp, by the 3rd run i had 61, and it probably would have kept going higher, arent these rated at 85?

The ratings for these bikes was at the crank. So there is a little loss between the crank and rear wheel. Nice run though. She's a beast for sure!

I think the european dyno numbers are more acurate at the rear wheel and gear ratio, tire etc would affect it.

are these types of setups available around at various speedways or is this just a special setup for a special occasion? I've always thought it would be cool to drag and this seems to be the safest mode to do so..right?? nice times btw shooter!

it was at the muskegon bike times, i went with a bunch of guys from the chopper underground, the guy i was racing had a sohc cb750, which i was surprised how close it was, since mine was 8 years newer, and has dual cams etc, but he said he beat a dohc cb750 pretty good

They are rated at 82 HP - -peak, at the crank
Not only are you taking the power reading from the rear wheel, but the dyno could be averaging the power thru the run, including your shifts.

And that does look like fun !!

ive had my yamaha's 'put up for the winter' all season and been riding my ZRX1200 so ive not been real active here this summer but as far as
goes, i was going to "try and meet up somewhere" with a bunch of REXriders in muskegon but to no avail...

yes, the dyno drags were in the Hot Rod Harley dealership parking lot...

i had a fan issue on my bike so i declined but when i got there on friday they were BEGGING people to run their bikes. i would have but it was getting REALLY HOT without the added cooling from the fan (water cooled bike)...

i rode over from port huron with another guy and we then met up with 5 other guys from macomb twp in imlay city (I-69) and went on down the road. it was about a 4 hour ride for us as well. i put just a smidge under 600 miles on over the weekend...

I know mad- I asked the main guy planning the event if I could invite the site, but he said no, because he wants to add one forum per year, and i was fairly new on the forum so i wasnt going to try any harder, next year though, Im gonna invite the whole site no matter what, and you better have your maxim done, i need another xj there.

lt dave, where did you stay? we were at the wolf lake campground, and I saw some of the bikes you have around there

we were SUPPOSED to stay in the holiday inn right there off the traffic circle but we ended up losing a couple of rooms for some dumb reason so we transferred out to the holiday inn in spring lake right off M31 (or US 31) at exit 104a...

there was ONE of our guys in a toyhauler in a campground just a couple of miles past us. he has a cbr1000rr...

Plan was to have it done this summer....but with all the sh1t breakin' down here (motor and tranny blew on the GA daily driver, comm board went on the cnc) an UI just coverin' the bills while I'm in school....the prognosis ain't lookin' too great.. :(

You know about bein a college guy and bein' broke all the time right schooter? Now just imagine still having to make house payments and utility bills 8O ... not singin the blues....God has really been our provider the last year and a half, just sayin' some things have to get bumped down the priority list :D
But when she gets done... I'll be there with bells on!!! :D lol

750 YICS motors are rated at 80 bhp. remember that BRAKE horsepower is not only measured at the crank (without transmission or final drive) it is also measured WITHOUT any of the motors "accessories" such as alternator/charging system, in the case of a water cooled the water pump, in the case for forced induction the blower isn't counted, etc etc. In some cases they hook it up to a "standard" intake and exhaust. I put it in quotes because they only sometimes they do and sometimes they just use the as produced stocker and there doesn't seem to be a set of regs by which this special intake and exhaust is determined so it's not all THAT scientific. With lights on and charging the battery after recently having run the starter motor 70 hp peak measured at the wheel seams perfectly reasonable to me with your 60-70 numbers (40's over all) being pretty dang good. If at all reasonable you could try patching in a relay to shut down all the electricals except the ignition circuit including essentially disconnecting the battery. That'll take the load off the alternator (allowing it to spin easily rather than drag as it tries to produce current)
Night time drags won't be as keen with your headlight off (if they let you at all) but it'll bump up your numbers a couple few percent.

Keep it up man, the title was aptly named. I'm proud. These old gals are whole different animals from bikes made even five years before.

haha, i know what you mean, doing this just pumps me up to improve on next year, I was considering buying a turbo bike and slapping it on my bike, but after talking to Time, it's kinda impossible.

and I dont know how much cam work would cost, probably too much for a college kid. or maybe finding a 900 engine, i dunno, im thinking about it too much
