I'm building up my MAXIM XJ 1100 and would like to swap-out my old controls for the newer Harley Davidson Sportster controls. Does anyone know if thats possible?

Im going with 1" bars, but:
    1) Not sure if the sportster clutch cable would fit my clutch, or can be made to fit!
    2) Not sure if the sportster break lines would fit my old xj calipers.

    any suggestions?!

You can probably get it to work but why? Those big old clubby controls will double the weight of your bike!

Yes, it can be done, but its alot of custom work and fabbing to get it to work, someone on here is running harley controls but his name is escaping me at the moment.

I have a sportster and the controls look wayyyy better than my maxims. Too bad it's so much work to swap em. :(

No wonder my ears were burnin'....lol
Not sure what custom work and fabbing you mean, unless you're talking about getting 1" bars and risers in the xj....that's not too big of an issue.
I have the electrical and cables all done. Still have to do the brake line. The biggest challenge was rewiring stuff. Not sure how the wiring differs from the maxim 750 and the 1100, but here's the thread with my adventure into HD controls. As far as the brake line goes, from what I remember I just have to get a brake line that has a 9/16 banjo fitting on one end and a 10mm banjo on the other to go from the MC to the existing line splitter on the bike...
