okay, we talked about this for sometime this spring...

i tried to resurrect the thread a week ago because its GETTING CLOSE and theres still some details to work out...

while i probably WONT go on my own, ive got 2 other rides ive been invited to on that weekend and i want to know if this is still a group ride or if its a goat rope...

you can respond here OR EMAIL me at Ltdave at yahoo dot com...

its not the shortest distance to ride so you may want to consider a motel or tenting over friday night...

passport or enhanced DL is REQUIRED for reentry to the states so keep that in mind!

If you make it to PD13 the local XJ riders are meeting at Tim Horton's at noon. But if you are arriving later we can set up a later time.

Shame - this should be quite the experience - "madhouse" I believe would be a good word for it. 8O

My CAV guys are going to a different event that day up at CFB Borden - but I'll be going to Dover if you're coming through the London way...

London was my original path. Then it waas mentioned to cross at Sombra and head to the Erie shoreline route. THAT route while only 165miles is about SIX HOURS. Not real interested in riding THAT LONG on my own. I LIKE riding with people so I'm leaning really hard at my other offers...

i was all geeked up about it too, but as the summer went on, i lost a bunch of money, and have not taken the time to make my journey into canada legal...

I would love to, but i cannot

    I'm still planning on going.

Ferry in Marine City crossing to Sombra, ON. I plan to try to hit the ferry about 8-8:30 Friday AM, weather permitting.

Maybe earlier, my lazy butt permitting.

That would put me into PD around 1:00pm give or take, Google has it about 137 miles from the ferry crossing.

    Timmies it is.

theyre leaving WAY earlier than you too. somewhere around 6am or something...

Dave; no apologies necessary. I prefer smallish groups, like one. I prefer riding alone, actually-- don't have to accomodate anybody. I will probably run up on you guys at some point.

Ferry from Marine City to Sombra ON, starts running at 6:40. NO WAITING, like at the bridge. $3 IIRC.

Be sure you look around Sombra for my XJ, in case i got up earlier than you.

I'm not taking any "motorways" I'm running across back roads to St. Thomas (closest hotel I could find not booked solid.) Then I'm droppng down to the coast at Port Stanley and following the rugged little coast road, through Port Bruce, Port Burwell, Port Royal, Port Rowan, Turkey Point, Port Reyerse before getting into PD.

I've ridden that route before on my Norton many times and it's like being in Scotland or someplace.

If you are still looking for lodging, St. Thomas was the closest that wasn't absolutely slammed and it's filling up. The Comfort Inn had only 5 cheap rooms left, Ramada sold out as was every B & B on the coast I called (go figure.)

St. Thomas-Port Dover via Hwy 3=60 miles.

I had NO IDEA how big this thing has become; I looked at their facebook page and people are coming from Alberta and North Carolina fer chrissakes!

yeah i can appreciate that but i still like riding with a couple of guys. ive been in some bigger groups (25-ish) and thats about as many as i want in one block of riders. i usually run with 4-6 others and thats just right...

we plan on taking the ferry but after that ive got no idea of our route...

    hope to catch you SOMEPLACE...

GH, that's cool! Be sure to park your bike out front when you're home, like you said.

Lt; I'm thinking that I may try to get an earlier start, then grab breakfast in Sombra or soon after so watch for me.

The most direct route is to drop down from Sombra to the 401 and take that to St. Thomas, then pick up Hwy 3. I like to go all the way down to Hwy 3 to begin with, and then drop down to the coast after St. Thomas and run the old coast road through all the Port towns. I don't like the 401.

You riding the 750 or the 900?

    the 1200...

    2001 Kawasaki ZRX 1200R

the 750 is in 'pieces' because i was SUPPOSED to have it painted over the winter but it was too cold to work in the garage AND it was 'put away'...

the 900 is still running funky because im too lazy to screw with the carbs. that and i have no headlight because i took the fairing off for repair and paint...

    *Note on ferry $6

From the last bigone, by the time you hit tillsonburg area, you'll most likely be riding in to a pack of 25+ (that's what a lot of the riders were saying on the last big summer run).

When Bro and I rode in, it was just before that we ran into about 50 pack, and as we were getting closer, good 100+ riders as we entered the dover rode block.

Lt, is that brickwork on the garage gable, or some sort of siding?

The $6 is for cars; motorcycles are $3, $5 if towing a trailer.

    brick...

other than the doors (garage and front) the bay window and the matching cream colored 'gable' that covers the front porch, its all brick...

i dont have my flagpole and flag flying in this picture because it was aluminum and had gotten bent in a storm. i had a replacement in the garage but i was too busy washing the bike and taking pics of it...
