Well, the more I looked into doing the more and more people who were telling me how unsafe it is and how bad of an idea it is. So, I thought about it, got that evil grin on my face, and I went for it. Here's what I have so far. The clutch is mounted right on there, the only thing left to do is to mount the Beer tap to the top of it.

    Is it safe?? probably Not.
Is it a Good idea?? definetly Not, It's extremely hard to get started from a stop since only 1 hand is on the handle bars and its turning the throttle.
Would I reccomend it to anyone on here? Not unless you have a lot of riding expierience but even then this takes some real cordination.

BUT, I like to be differnt, and Pig headed. And when I pull into the parking lot at bike nite, the girlies underwear get a little wet!

Stick a Foam Rubber Crutch Hand Pad on the Top and she'll be ready for the Prom.

Prettier than my Prom date was.
    I wound-up going alone.
When I pinned the corsage on her, I accidentally pr1cked her and all the air let out ...

Thanks for another idea for that set up.
As soon as I can afford a '79/'80 xs 1100 I want to bob and chop
    to near 0 weight.
The one thing I want that has nothing to do with performance
or weight or whatever is a suiside shift set up. it's just that damn cool
    looking!
And contrary to many of the guru's of perfection on the site,
personal touches and a bit of extra risk is what life is about.
That bike looks great and I hope you have A blast on it!

thanks for the good wordfs guys. it's not completely finished but it's rideable. It's a blast to ride, but scary as $#&^ to pull out on, really really weird, but the looks it gets is well worth it.

Yeah well... I believe if your scared to death to ride a motorcycle then you shoiuldnt be on one at all. I just laugh at all the weekend warriors who go out in the 100 degree days with full riding gear on. Im a jeans and tshirt kind of guy, no helmet, no gloves, and no leather. I dont care what your oppinion is of safe. I have already laid one bike down in a bad accident, and I Survived, maybe next time I wont be so lucky, but H3LL for that matter, the vending machine may tip over and fall on me, the next time i hit C3 for my little Debbies. I believe when its your time its your time, nothing can protect you, so ride however your the most comfortable.

You should look for a smaller gas tank to make it look more radical, some barb wire, bits of real (but preserved) road kill, a rusty bottle opener on a chain, and a hacked front fender.
You got a good start there !!

Exile Bikes makes a push button clutch that mounts to the shifter that looks great but don't know how much it cost, (probably a lot). Have you considered a foot clutch ( less time spent with one hand on handle bars)? Probably wouldn't be hard to make.

I don't seem to be able to grasp how you Clutch and Ghange Gears by yanking on that piece of old Pipe.

Sooner or later you're likely to encounter a situation where you need to on the Clutch and Throttle plus engaging a lower Gear.
On a grade with a turn or trying to stay-up with people passing a semi going uphill ... you need another Hand.

Re the comment "When its your time its your time, and nothing can protect you" Im not trying to start a riot here but come on. Would you take a loaded gun, put it to your head and pull the trigger saying oh well if its my time its my time if not then the gun wont go off? By all means customize your bikes and have fun, you gotta take some risks in life but dont be stupid about it. Wearing protective gear is a good idea which could extend your life, like exercising and eating right. I am an old man and a Dad, and somebody out there Loves you to death, and if you got kids thats a whole other speech. Ive done a lot of dumb things in my life like boxing and MMA, but took all the precautions I could thru proper training and such...Anyhow sorry to be preachy, I will go away now, but be careful. Please... Brett

guess the shift aint for pussies
i ride 1 handed with a normal setup, so im comfortable 1 handed, also my first street bike. and its not like the shift pipe is loose, mine is perfect and solid even on the interstate dosnt effect handling imo.my only issue was stopping and i got that worked out. as for take off, takes off just as easy 1 handed as 2. also i live in a town thats a huge freaking hill and i live dam near at the top .ride how ur comfortable and dont tell ppl theyll die if they dont like a normal ride. plus passing folks is a freakin blast.
your bikes tits Cmccully u ride 2 wheels for a reason keep it that way dont let anyone pussify you

haha, right on man. I ride because I love it, and have always wanted to to ride on 2 wheels. Never thought I'd own a metric bike, But i got a great deal on this one, so im just chopping it up to make people stop and look at it, and the more people that says its nuts and to crazy to be safe the better, then I know they wont be asking to take it for a ride.
