if your bike can travel at the speed of light, does your headlight become useless????

Your braking distance would be about a Light-Year and your tires would wear out in a millionth of a second. But you'd be out of gas in a billionth of a second, and you'd need Main Jets 50 feet across. Each.

    yes, they could.

yes, mainly because of the blue shift that would occur.

the more pressing question for me, is at the speed of light on a bike.....how do you keep your clothes on?

OK,.. quit fooling around and really put-on your thinking caps.

You are standing in front of a room with one lightbulb inside of it.

You cannot see if it is on or off.

Outside the room there are 3 switches in the off positions. You may turn the switches any way you want to.

You stop turning the switches, enter the room and know which switch controls the light bulb. How and why?

According to good ol' albert-light travels at a constant speed of
186,000 +/-miles per sec from it source..
Thats reguadless of the relative speed of that source.
So yes. if you are on a ship traveling the speed of light,if you turn on
the headlights they will travel 186.000 miles per sec from the headlight-even though the headlight is already traveling at that speed.
    Thats why it's called "relativity".
It's in the same persception prob as the idea of stillness-there is no
such thing. You may think the ahstray is stitting still on the
table-but it's not since the earth is spinning, and going around the sun
which is going around with the galaxy, which is moving through space.
But i've only had my first cup of coffee and it's to early to think of the details.

c'mon rick! I remember my high school physical science teacher telling the class this riddle.

Turn the first switch on and leave it for a minute or two. Next, turn the first switch off and turn on the second switch and enter the room. If the light is off and the bulb is warm, then it is the 1st switch; if the light is on when you enter, it is the second; if neither is true, then it has to be the third switch.

Took our group over 20 minutes to solve this. Sadly to say, I was not the one that solved it.

Our science teacher also played the twenty questions routine with us. Went like this.

Marineland/Sea World type of place. Dolphins were scheduled to perform three shows. They came out for the first, refused to perform the second, and performed the third without incident. Why?
