I need to get to my clutch, mainly because I don't read directions. The top most screw on the right crank case cover is tighter than a nun's knees, and the slots on the head are pretty much worn down to nothing.

I've ordered some screw extractors off of ebay, since I'm going out of town for a few days and I can wait for shipping. I've been trying for 2 weeks to find time to get out to the garage and work on this, and now I'm stopped again! Grrrr.....

you can pretty much beat new slots in a screw and take it out at the same time with a hand impact driver and a three pound hammer

When I get one of those stubborn screws ... I show it no mercy.

Grab on to it ... real tight ... with Vice Grips or a Miniature Pipe Wrench.

In the case of Vice Grips ... "Crappy-Old" Vice Grips with worn-down jaws ... won't cut it. Use the good ones.
Tape the Grips closed with Electrical Tape.
Swat the Vice Grips a good smack with a Hammer Handle.

    The Mini-Pipe Wrench!
Get a GOOD Tight starting grip.
Apply FIRM Torque in the Undo dye-reck-shunn !
Beat the Handle of the 'Lil-Pipe with a heavy something!

    Don't heat it.
Or, if you do ... just the Head twists off.

Throw alll the old fasteners away and get a Stainless or Titanium Kit.

the easiest way to do it if you haven't stripped the screw is to apply more leverage. find a pipe or something in your garage and slide it onto the ratchet so that you basically have a really long handle, then turn.

Sometimes if you tap on it like it's a nail it helps release the threads and the Kroil can soak in further. Then loosen AND tighten just a little, like a very small wiggling action, breaks threads loose one at a time.

But these bolts ARE grade 1 crap.

To add what TIME wrote when you get the screw out abit spray some in some Kroil in then tighten, repeat as needed.

I think you should get rid of as many of the CHEAP Fasteners that are on the Bike as your good fortune permits.

I envy the Members who have gotten-out all the Intake Manifold Cap Screws.
You can get KITS relatively cheaply that will replace the Engine and Carbs.

If you don't care to go with a Stainless-look or want to keep it LOOKING Stock.
Replace the soft stuff with a higher grade of Fastener.

Every now and then ... you get the opportunity to get Stainless Fasteners for the Bike at a fraction of the cost for what you'd pay ala-carte.

Like this deal ... on Ebay!!!
