at least I was going slow when I noticed it.
I drove home from work on interstate, then when I left my house after lunch, it didn't feel right.
    looked down and saw this......
    looks to be non repairable.

no, but I think I'm going to blow up......
the local Yamaha dealer wants $175 for just that rear tire......
    crooks......
I see it on Dennis Kirk for $103
I imagine they will not mount it for free either.

Motorcycle Superstore says $105; plan on $20-$40 to mount if you carry the tire and your wheel into a shop.

Motorcycle Boneyards can be a good place to shop for a used tire.

Somebody is always getting NEW Rubber and wrecking the Bike by over-riding Tires that haven't had the Tire Mole Release Agent scrubbed-off them yet.

I don't think there is one even close to where I live.
probably Minneapolis, MN would be my guess.

I'll probably get burned at the stake for this, but I really like my new Shinko Tour Masters.... They're cheap, but grip really well... ~$68 online.

Try Midwest Cycle supply in Mpls and see if they have something in your price range. I got a back tire from them for one of my 750s for about 90.00. Make sure you tell them if you need a tubeless tire or not.

I've got a Shinko on my rear. For a $70 tire I'm satisfied.

    Be careful on Budget Tires.
Sometimes the Specs are exaggerated to make the sale.

I know there's MINIMUM Standards to satisfy Transportation Agency Requirements.
You don't know how fast you are going on an XJ-Bike.

Every Speedometer on our Bikes is " +/- ?". Uncertifiable.
Most of our Speedo's hit the peg at 80.

And, I know there are many of you who have pegged the Speedo and start watching the Tach while telling Scottie to give you all she's got!

Just walked out of the local Yamaha dealer about two weeks ago with a new Dunlop 404 mounted for about $102. 75ish for the tire and 21 for the mounting. That's taking just the tire/rim in. I got to say, I like the tire.

Thats about what I pay for the tires and mountings. But, I will also clarify that by saying that I have known the dealer from the time he had a single-bay shop in his garage behind his house. So, he gives me a break.

As far as tires, I prefer the dunlop 404's.
