Will the triple tree from an 85 maxim 700 fit the neck of an 82 maxim 750? I recently bought a parts 700 and like the way the front end looks with the round headlight and gauges.
I also wonder if the rear wheel will bolt right on so I can keep the wheels matching.

Any advice or suggestions are welcome.
    Thanks

Hmm, maybe I wasn't clear in what I was asking...
Will the triple tree from an 85 maxim 700 fit the neck of an 82 maxim 750? Also will the back wheel of the 85 700 bolt right up to the shaft of the 82 750? I have looked and I can find nothing on this here.
    Please does anyone know?

    Thanks

for the wheel you should check the dimensions of the 2 different ones. i would think its the same, since the 700 is just the american version of the 750. but you should double check considering the difference in years. i dont know about the forks.

I know the wheels are the same size. I am hoping that the triple tree from the 700 will fit the 750 and also that the shaft will bolt up. I guess there is only one way to find out...
I start to disassemble the 700 tomorrow

It looks like the 82 and 85 steering stem shafts are the same diameter top and bottom from looking at the bearing sizes. What I don't know is the stem length, although that can be changed by cutting and welding to get shorter or turning and welding in a slug to lengthen. You should be able to make it ork.

Thanks guys, I think I will take schooters advice and just try it. They appear to be the same length. Probably won't happen right away...Too many nice days ahead to tear it apart. I Will post when I start
