Hello to anyone that visits this topic. So my step dad gave me 2 yamaha's one seca and one a maxim me and a buddy of mine are thinking of building a single person tube car with the motors. Has anyone ever heard of these power plants connecting with some sort of 2 wheel drive differential or transfer case? We we're looking on ebay for atv rear ends and side by sides but not sure if any of them will work. I hope I can get some good ideas here. Also we're selling everything we don't need and we are willing to trade for other parts that we need. So if anyone has a spare cdi box for a 750 seca Ive got a frame and front forks rear wheel with brake and differential front wheel etc. just let me know. Thanks for taking the time to check this out. will post pics of the build

Make a 3 wheeler with each wheel independently running each wheel. Make the third wheel a swivel wheel. Have fun

Haha jk that would probably kill someone, What years are the bikes?

both of the bikes are 81's. A seca and a maxim. Im not to sure what you mean by make a three wheeler with each wheel running the other. Ive seen a yamaha grizzly rear axles and differential that I think will fit. I was hoping that someone here would have more knowledge on the subject. but ill probably just have to get a rear end and make it work. tear down begins today so the parts Im not using are up for grabs.

The XJ's have a 4.129:1 ratio, so for a heavier and slower "Kart" you would want to look for a higher gear numerically. Like a 5:1.

    Have fun with it !!

Pretty interesting idea. I'm not familiar with the different type of rear ends or differentials on atv, but aren't you going to run into the problem of syncing the motors so they are running the exact same rpms or power to each wheel?? It'll be interesting to see what you come up with...

sorry about the confusion but we're not planing on a dual engine tube car. we're each building our own with each engine. But I was thinking dose anyone know if you can convert these to chain or belt driven that would make things a lot easier.

With enginuity and skill, I would think maybe you could mount the engine side ways somehow and run a sproket off where the u joint mounts to the engine and run that to a sprocket on the axle. There would be a lot of figuring to do. How about a small rear drive car rear end, or side by side rear end?? Maybe there is some kind of differential from a 4 wheel drive crv or equivalent you can adapt with rear independent suspension and keep the shaft.

both of those ideas make a lot of sense I like your mounting the motor sideways with a sprocket that actually might be doable

depending on your use for the carts..... you could get a transfer case from a suzuki samuri and the axles. Power the Transfercase from the XJ engine then the rest of the drivetrain is suzuki.

THe samuri transfer case is already divorced and drive off an input shaft.

Truthfully it's more about cost for me Im trying to keep this in a budget range and transfer cases for samurais are like $300 dollars and up on ebay and that dosen't include the axles which are another 150-200. So if I can't figure a more cost effective way of doing this I might go that route but not unless a you pull it yard here in Tucson has a cheaper transfer case.
