So, I have replaced all of my mixture screws but one. They blasted thing is stripped. I have tried drilling a hole to extrace it but the bit (brand new cobalt) won't go through it. Any ideas on how to get this thing out?

Take it and a fresh, crisp $20 bill to a machine shop and let them do it.....that's what we do, works every time!

You do not want to risk damaging the threads or the carb body.

Thank you chacal. I will do it. Going to see how it rides with three fixed and take it in later to do the fourth.

Dont feel bad... My uncle offered to change my oil for me while I was on vacation, visiting my parents.. I got back and he tells me he stripped my Oil drain plug on my baby. I was so pissed. The bolt is fine its actually the threads in my case that are stripped.

He said he was laying on the right side when he attempted to extract it and messed up the whole "lefty loosy, righty tighty" and just thought I had really torqued it on last time I changed the oil, so he kept cranking on it.

I'd bet a dollar to a doughnut he was a 6 pack in when he did it :(

Well, if your carb rack is off the bike already, I would take it in now and have the removal done......the bike will run like crud with one mixture screw out of adjustment, and you won't be able to synch and adjust the other three, either (or, at least, you won't be able to do so successfully).

Since carb removal/re-install takes quite a bit of time, if the carbs are already off, find a machine shop locally (automotive engine rebuilders are a good place, too), as the actual screw removal process won't take a shop more than 10 minutes to do properly......there should be plenty of those type places in DFW area.

The Mixture Screws don't usually resist drilling!

Maybe you are dealing with a broken-off Easy-Out or Screw Extractor that IS a hardened tool steel.

IF that's the case, ... have a Machine Shop "Burn" out that remnant with an E.D.M. Machine. Electrical Discharge Machining.

    Or, ... Metal Disintegrating Machining:

As always you guys are awesome. I had already put the carbs back on when I read the additional posts. Surprisingly, the bike is running pretty good with 2.5 turns. One of the new screws I got from XJ4Ever has messed up threads so, I guess it is good I can't replace it. I will have to call Len and see what I need to do.

oing to replace the plugs. They are 2 years old. When I get the additional mixture screw, I will go to the machine shop.

Thanks again. Riding is great even if it is a little hot.
