Been a while since I sold my last Maxim and I'm back at it again. My "Batman" Bike (as was named on here, hahaha) sold to a guy on Ebay and went from New Mexico to Louisiana. That one was an 85'.

Now I got a really decent 83' Maxim that I am going to do the same stuff to with a few improvements that realllly bugged me. So ver. 2.0 it is.
I will be selling all the misc Stock parts off this bike to help cover my costs in modification supplies. So look for parts in the ads soon. (gauges, yamaha bags and fairing, blinkers, bars, controls, seat etc.) I will likely hit ebay like I did last time, I sold quite a bit of parts to European customers thru them.

    Glad to be back!

^^ the fairing is ugly, and the bags are too, but its gotta be hard to cut up such a nice bike.

Problem is, is that it is worth more in parts than it is whole, hahah. That's the only reason i'm going to sell the parts and not keep it whole. I will start the tear down later this week if all goes well.

those bags and fairing are worth their weight in gold, ditch those rims and use a set of mvirago spoke rims

basically strip it down to the frame with nothing left but the motor, carbs, and the wiring harness and shaft swingarm, then go from there... make bookoo bucks from parting it out

When I look for spoke rims, I need Virago ones? What year do I have to get..... I reallllllly want spokes this time!

Yeah, I stripped my 85' Max above to nothing and the parts paid for the non running bike! It seems on ebay these parts are not worth as much, for an 83'. I will try to sell to folks here first , then go to the Bay.

I would think 80-84 or whatever shaft drive should work, I dont know if you'll need the swingarm or not, should be faily easy, there is someone on here who did it

How cute, it's like a pseudo candlelight vigil to keep the bike whole....hahaha!

Theres not enough purists here to get a good "value" for the bike, you guys who can admire a complete original bike are few and far between.

Every part aside from spark related, gas related and drivetrain related, is up for sale.. I will take all the pictures and make ads for the items. Most parts look real good considering they are almost 30 yrs old!

    You're a hard man :)

That Batman bike is MEAN... That wasn't a pale green with a stripe before being painted black?

Look forward to seeing how this works out.

Is was a satin blue with stripes at one point.... from standing view those stripes made it look slick!! I might go back to that on this one. Just no crazy shifter, hahaha.

Yea I thought it looked familiar... I like that one piece look with out it looking like a fairing...

I must say that the black version with the zig zag bars is an outstanding piece of work

Thanks!! I did my best with what I had, not much for funds, but a welder, grinder and some fiberglass with a tad bit of experience and I was happy with the outcome. It definitely evolved as time went on.

I'm going to "shift on the fly". I might go for a more "drag racing" look, but I might make another variation of my first bike. I was thinking about making two full looks that can be interchanged easily, that would help in the sale of it later on. I will be sure to update!

Yeah, it's called "All you can eat Buffet" padding, hahahahah. On the old one I had formed the seat to be friendlier than just a flat pan. I had rode on a diamond plate seat that my friend had and it was murder, this one was actually not that bad.

    Thanks guys!

I had a few days to do some work and to try and acquire some parts to modify. Man, did I get lucky, I found an ad for some vStar Classic fenders for dirt cheap. They turned out to be great pieces to start with. I will be adding the side skins tomorrow, if the weather cooperates.

Here is the front fender, it was 1.8" wider in stock form. Now the fender is cut down, tacked up and mounted.

Here also for bushy, the front pic...
