i thought this bikes used only engine and drive shaft oit,
do they use a separate gearbox oil?

i found a plug in the rear left side and
u could see rusted gears in there.

did i miss something and shouldve put oil in there?
i cant find anything about it in the manual,
pls let me know whats going on here.

There should BE Oil in there.
    That's the Middle Gear Exchange.

The Lubrication System is supposed to Oil the Middle Gear Exchange from the Supply of Oil Pumped through the System by the Oil Pump.

Finding NO Oil in there is unusual.
There's usually about 65ml. in the cavity.

That Drain Plug IS NOT the Engine's MAIN Oil Drain Plug.
The MAIN Drain Plug is on the Front of the Engine.
    Above the Oil Filter Dome.
On the Sump, ... above the Exhaust Collector's middle Inlets.
19mm Hex Plug (Often with a Cross Head Screw in its' center.

    I've measured about 200 ml
    http://www.xjbikes.com/Forums/viewtopic/t=23688.html

Below the filter housing, in a hard to reach area.

    Editors Note:
The preceding Post Quotes me "Out Of Context"
    And is INCORRECT!

    It's NOT hard to reach.
    It's Easy to reach, ...

And, ... WILL be found, ...

"On the Sump, ... above the Exhaust Collector's middle Inlets.
19mm Hex Plug (Often with a Cross Head Screw in its' center."

    On ... the ... sump.
Above <-- the --> Exhaust Collector --> middle Inlets.
    19mm Hex Plug.
(Often with a Cross Head Screw in its Center.)

    Pretty specific.
Should have been included in the quote.

    This ain't FOX News.

    that's not a fill hole.

It's just a bolt. If he saw a gear it would have been the shaft drive gear. Maybe it is rusted maybe not but oil doesn't go in that hole.

hmm i guess my question is,
should there be oil in there?
and if so where does the oil come from?

it should be the same engine oil right?
dunno how much he put in.

Peaceful roads Secaman, shoot some pics of the new ride!
I'm curious as to why you have a picture of one of the output flang shaft clamp/rear case bolt with an arrow pointing to it? I seem to have missed the relevence.

well u could've rad the above,
    but here goes:

the new owner complained there was no oil in gear box.
he said he took that screw off and saw rusted gears and no oil in there.
so i told him the engine oil is the same as the gear box oil,
so if it had oil in sifght glass there was nothing to worry about.
then he told me he put oil in there, and the noise in the gears stopped,
and now the bike is muuch smoother and quieter.

so should there be a separeta oil in that screw i pointed at?
there u go the whole story!!

ps. ill try post some pics of the klr, though i miss the seca for the street .. ;(

Ahh... Thank you for explaining it. I see I think. I don't remember seeing anything under that bolt when I had my 750 engine apart. Something isn't making sense to me... it's got to be me.
Oh well, you got the problem fixed and the bike is happy. That is what matters.
Do drop in whenever you are in our neck of the woods, I'd love to show you the sights here.
