I have to admit, in my college days, the early GPz550 was what I dreamed about. The Seca 550 was a close second, but that firecracker red GPz just knocked my socks off!

Today, the Secas are the apple of my eye, but I was curious what the old GPz's were selling for, whether they have a dedicated site like this one, etc.

To my surprise, there were NO early GPz 550's on e-bay and only one or two 750's/1100's. And the only GPz owner's web site I found didn't offer much.

So where did all the GPz's go? Are folks holding on to them, or did they not "age" very well?

    Just curious...

-Found 2 GPZ's on Craigslist locally, one 750cc blk/red and one 650cc in yellow. They are a sweet looking bike, but I'd still put my seca up against any one of them!!

Raced to death, probably. They were the R6 equivalent of their day.

I was originally looking for a 1981 GPz550 when I found my 650 Seca as these were the two bikes I wanted "back in the day".
The Seca has turned out to be the most fun bike I have had after my RD350 and the light handling for the GPz550 has been fun too after I found a GPz a few months ago.
Something happened during my last Kawa ride and I made it home on what seemed to be just two cylinders. Now it will start with choke and idle but keeps revving up to 2,000 to 3,000 rpm when the choke comes off.
If I try to ride it, if feels like it is dropping back to two cylinders and will barely pick up speed.
All four plugs are sooty from running on choke, but it looks like all cylinders are firing and all the slides are rising and dropping OK, any suggestions?
Does this sound like a carb problem or an air leak problem? Should I tear the carbs down or look elsewhere?
