    Sup y'all.

As you can probably guess from my username, my name is Stephen. I'm 19 years old, and in the Oregon Army National Guard. I have been pretty active on a few other forums for Ford Rangers, and have been extremely happy with the technical know-how and feedback. Well, I wrecked my ranger, and someone is giving me my first motorcycle. It needs some work, but I'm sure that this forum will also deliver as well as Ford Ranger Forums does.

Here are some details on the bike.

    1981 XJ Seca 750
It has been laid down a few times, so here are some of the known issues.

Shift lever spring needs replaced (I know that's the wrong term, Motorcycle newb here! I'm used to working on trucks haha)

Wrong clutch grab-lever. (which makes it flop around like a limp-fish)

needs new left turn signals, front and rear.

    Needs new taillight.

Large dent in top of fuel tank (doesn't look like it will effect the functionality of the bike, but looks ugly, and there is rust on a small area where the paint flaked off.)

Transmission may have other problems, but the guy that's giving it to me (who has a lot of experience working on bikes) says he doubts that it does. He's looking into it just to be safe tho.

Other than that, just some TLC, and it'll be good!.

This is the only picture I have of it, I will get more uploaded ASAP. I wanted to get more pictures, but didn't want to bother him too much. He works graveyard, then I came over after he got home, so he was pretty tired.

Go Guard!!! I was considering a job with the Oregon National Guard, F-15/16
instructor out of Klamath Falls. Welcome to the forum, you've got a nice find there and the folks in this group are technical experts.

I searched through a few forums before I registered for one, and this one looked like the best for technical know-how on these bikes. And like I said before, i am a complete newb to working on motorcycles. I've ridden them before, but never worked on them.

There are a number of XJ's in the Portland metro area. I have an '81 XJ650 and live across the river in Vancouver, WA.

You are right about this forum. A great group of guys always willing to help out and no huge egos to massage. I follow another forum for a different bike I own and it's not always that way.

Great bikes, fun to ride, light and quick, and a great forum.

    Nice,

    Loren

I leased a house for a year just off Hall Blvd in Tigard a long time ago.

When you get the bike pm me and we can take a look.
