    Hi All,

New to the forum, just got my first XJ and had a quick question. The bike was another man's bobber project, and while he did a great job aesthetically, the sound leaves something to be desired.

I was wondering if you guys could point me in the right direction as far as the loudest, meanest, beefiest pipes I can get on this bike?

    Thanks,

    Jake.

welcome to the site, dont just cut them off. Geez, these things sounds terrible with just open headers. Find some screamin eagle muffler for a harley or something but dont go just open headers real short.

I temporarily removed the pipes after the collector box on mine, and it sounded FANTASTIC... I lost a noticeable amount of performance though, and put them back on....

If your going to change your pipes do it right. like CMc said get some screaming eagles or have a shop make some.

im currently working on doing my own exhaust, im making a 2-1 on each side, and then running the pipes back and upward about as high as my sissybar. first im going to try it with 2.25" piping with no muffler to see how that changes the sound, and if its still not for me, im going to add shorty cherrybombs in line with it. I will post videos with it when i get them complete. but for refrence, here is a video of Open headers, with 7" turnouts, no mufflers. Its ridiculously loud, and does not sound good going down the road, it just drones u out. And yes I have a American bike and know what a Loud rumble should be.

I have screamin eagle II mufflers on mine and it sounds pretty good. So I'd have to agree with Cmccully.
