On this date in 1974

Evil Knievel fails attempt to jump Snake River canyon.

 

I successfully jumped 20 feet with a pull start mini-bike (helmetless!!)

 

I was -6 years old

 

I remember watching it on TV!

It was / is my birthday - I was 9 years old.

 

Way back then, a friend of mine broke his collar bone trying to emulate Evil Knievel. In retrospect, he did a pretty good job.

 

Hmmm was also 9, rememebr seeing it on the news

 

My Norton was sitting in its crate in a warehouse waiting for me to buy it.

 

Riding my Suzuki TS-125 all over Mass.

 

the world was gathered in celebration that i would be born in just 13 more years.

 

10 more years for me lol, but I remember seeing the video as a kid.

 

I wasn't even a twinkle in my parents eyes! lol

 

I was less than 1.

 

I attended my second day, senior year of high school.

Never could figure out what EK was thinking. I was familiar with the spot where he made his fizzle and could never figure out why anyone would get even remotely close to the edge of the Snake River canyon. A l o n g ways to the bottom.

I was in the 4th grade, I remember watching it on TV. We were living in Moss Point MS at the time.

 

I was like 5 years old...
So i don't remember if i saw it "live" or later but I did get an "Evil Knievel Stunt Cycle" for my birthday when I was a kid.

If you look on youtube you will find a lot of videos of people recreating some of the more infamous stunts with the toy...Hilarious...

 

I was 17. Saw it on TV. Sort of a disappointment after such a big buildup.
I remember thinking, "Evel, that's not a motorcycle."

 

I was a faint glimmer in my parents eyes.
