I am considering changing my calipers on my 86 Maxim x, I was thinking buying some yzf R1 or R6 brake calipers. Does anyone here have experience changing calipers on this modell, which calipers (year and modell) will fit :?:

Why do you need to change them? The X brakes work prety good stock. I could just about do stoppies with my X and it had stock front brakes.

bigger, better, stronger 8) Seeing the price for R6 and R1 calipers on Ebay, its actually cheaper than most Steel-brakelines. (which I have installed aswell) It`s relative a cheap way to improve the brakes. I noticed that the R1 calipers on my fathers V-max had the same bolt holes as my Maxim, but I didn`t got a chance to try them on before he sold it. And since this is not an atempt to improve power and speed, but braking distance, I see all the more reason to do it. SAFETY

I Put R1 calipers, discs and master on my 750 seca. The Brakes and the amount of feel is amazing. Plus after changing the clutch lever setup, I can now buy the common R1 levers for my XJ even shorties :)
