I was wondering what parts are swapable from these two bikes? I have blown fork seals in the the Seca and was wondering if I can just swap the entire front end of the maxim over to the seca. Also, can I directly mount the rear wheel from a maxim up to a seca? I know it's a 130 and I currently have a 110 on my seca. Thanks!

    No and No. Sorry.

Front ends are completely different, different size forks, etc. Just rebuild the Seca's forks, it's not difficult just a PIA.

The shaft-drive Maxim and the chain-driven 550 Seca have a completely different configuration of the rear wheel/brake drum, not only are they completely different sizes but the "internals" are different due to the shaft drive/final drive. You can't even swap between 550s for the rear wheel; the brake drum is a different diameter between the 550 Seca and 550 Max.

If you want a little more "meat" on the rear of the Seca, you can get away with a 120, or run a 4.00-18 like I have on my '83 (Avon.)

About the only things that will swap between the two are items like the handlebar switch pods, etc.

In other words, not a lot.

Haha, thanks Fitz. :) Glad I asked before I went ahead and started breaking stuff. Very informative Fitz, thank you very much. At least I got to use the Maxim headlight on my Seca :)

If you use the complete front end including triple trees, brake system and front tire they may be interchangable. You would have to check the size of the shaft and bearings that goes through the neck of the frame to be sure they are the same size. I have succesfully done this same swap before between 2 diffrent yamahas.

Other things you can swap: Tank badges, passenger pegs (I believe) you already figured out the headlight, and that's really about it. A lot of stuff looks like it should be the same but it's not once compared closely.
