    I'm expanding my horizons and, now I need XJ700(non-X) std rings or, 2nd O/S Rings & Pistons. I know what you all are thinking, "good luck" but, I gotta cover all of the bases! Thanks for any help you guys can give me!

    Chacal does stock 2nd OS rings/pistons/pins for that engine, at least according to the list I have.

    Yeah Bummer, I'm franticly looking all over the web right now for the parts that I need and, I'm coming up empty :( I've called coast to coast looking. If anyone knows where I can get any of these parts or, an alternative that would fit & work I would consider it a great favor! Seems like I own the wrong bike needing the wrong parts.

    Ken, remember, most specialty (may have to go to an "automotive" engine rebuilder of some integrity, as most can and do use specialty "custom" piston and piston ring manufacturers).....obviously, if you have custom pistons made, you need "custom" rings to go with it.........) so you DO have an out (even for standard sized rings, the manufacturer considers it a "custom" job because it's a 1-off job, not because there's anything so "special" about the rings). So as long as you have a sample and the original specs on the rings (in your service manual!), then such a mfg. will have all the info they need to stick it to you, whoops!, I mean "make you a custom set of rings".......

    Well I'm in contact with a local machine shop "Perfect Circle". I gave them all the info that they'll need to fab a set of rings for me. Not sure at what price but, the guy I talked to was very sympathetic to my situation, (he rides old bikes too) so, with a what I'm sure will amount to a wheel barrow of money 8O I should have some rings sometime soon.

    I guess the true measure of his sympathy will be in just how deep he dips into my pockets. Ya know, if the machinist would have been a cute girl, at least I would have enjoyed finacinal groping all a bit more :wink: I'll keep ya posted.

    I had to send in my pistons to Total Seal out of Phoenix. They had a correct sized set of rings but, they needed to make the 2nd groove wider on all of the pistons. Their ring was just a bit taller. I think that the bill was $350 or so. Good folks to deal with. Here's a link http://www.totalseal.com/

    i talk to them poeple very nice to deal with,there going to make me a set,not to cheap,but ineed of them,i wonder if thay many many in one shot if it would be cheaper,it would be nice to have some extra..
