I've complained before about how uncomfortable the seat on my 82 Maxim is.

I see this king queen seatpan on eBay. A similar seat is available from JC Whitney.

Anybody have any experience with these? Are they more comfortable than the stock seats, especially on long rides?

All depends on how tall you are. I'm 6' and on my 650 Maxim, the king and queen seat put me so far forward that it was very uncomfortable to ride. I bought the one from JC Whitney.

I just sold mine on ebay. It was a bit different than the one pictured, but it was very uncomfortable. I too felt like I was being pushed forward too far.

Thanks for the feedback guys. I'm also 6' tall, the stock seat already pushes me too far forward.

I really like the bike, but if I do many long rides I'll be wanting to move up to something with a bit more leg room.

For now, I guess I just need more padding on the rider. Pass the twinkies.....

Year? Model? Put them in your signature for future reference.

Do you need the whole seat (pan and all) or just the foam and cover?

I've got the JC Whitney catalog. Let me know which bike and I'll get you the numbers (I don't think they are in the online catalog).

I have a (late) friend who upholstered my seat and he told me about a jell seat pad that I can buy and that it should make my seat liveable with my bony butt.

I've seen them (JC Whitney sells several).

It's more than numb ass I'd like to correct. I feel like it's a constant fight to keep from sliding up onto the tank.

Maybe I need some longer fork tubes, get gravity working for me.

At the end of the day, the 650 is probably a bit small for this old 6' man. It's ok for the commute to work, but if I start doing the long rides very often I may have to go to a bit larger bike.
