Hi there, my name is Jayne and I am the proud new owner of my first Yamaha XJ400. I bought the bike to use as a winter hack, but actually really like it, so will see what the future brings.

I currently ride a Suzuki SV650S, that I am streetfightering, but the other half rides that while her Kwak 1000 is off the road.

I am fairly handy with a set of spanners, which is considered unusual for a girl in some places, but when I do get stuck, the other half is a pro mechanic.

Just spending some time restoring the little bike at the moment, it appears to have been looked after before we got it, but not too well. So it has the usual little problems and a bizarre coat of silver paint over most of the engine, carbs and cables! Don't ask, we do not know why it was sprayed in such a haphazard fashion!

The bike is a factory custom low rider style, which is a revelation to me after the wrist ache and neck pain of riding clip ons on the Suzuki, however, I am already thinking of a bar conversion to something a little more straight, not so keen on the shopping bike look!

This is also my first IL4 engine, having had the Suzuki since 2007 and singles before that. However, so far I have been quite impressed and for a thirty year old bike, it does fair shift.

Right off to fix bikes, have fun folks and enjoy the sunshine while it lasts.

This is me and my bikes.

XJ400 inline 4? that's a pretty rare bike! Welcome aboard and please have a glance at the rear brakes for delamination, I'll say that before anyone else does :)

Well, I have been riding the XJ for a little while now and frankly I was a little disappointed at first. Then I realised I was riding it like a sports bike and it was not feeling right. SO I sat back, chilled out and twisted that grip.

Bloody hell, it goes like a rocket! I love this bike, it is almost as fast as my SV! It is a damn sight more comfortable and the miles just float by.

Anyway, while I am here, check out a great biker internet radio station.

Total Biker FM is a great radio station playing really cool biker based music. Lots of classic rock, modern rock and even my favourite Death Metal! I love it, I even listen in while fixing my bikes...
