So lately the Seca has been acting up and I'm trying to find the cause. If I leave the bike for a few days without starting it, it would usually have issues trying to start up. The only way I would get it to start is to open up/twist the throttle while trying to start it for a few seconds, then I would let go of the throttle and trying it to start it again with or without opening the throttle. Usually after a try or 2 it would start, but I would prefer it to start on the first try =)

I'm thinking it's ether the starter or maybe it's because it's been a little cooler lately here. Any suggestions?

Hasn't been that much cooler here lately.

Do you turn your petcock to PRI for a minute before trying?

I do that when it's sat for more than a day and starts up first time.

First off which Seca? There have been a few to choose from over the years.

A possible problem with the starter is not in any way related to whether or not you twist the throttle.

Are you using the "choke" (enrichening circuit?)

    81 Seca 550

I haven't tried setting it to PRI for a minute or so before trying, but I will give that a shot. *thanks iwingameover as usual.

bigfitz, the choke is always on during a new fresh start or else it wouldn't have a chance =) Thanks for letting me know it's not my starter.

I have to use PRI for a few seconds before starting if my 550s have sat for over a week.

    Sound advice.

Just make sure you put it back to ON after starting or you can easily run out of gas and have no reserve.
