Hi guys, live in Norwich UK.
Bought an FJ/XJ 600 1983. Stripping and refurbing at the moment and going to turn her into a cafe racer style.Got fz600 top tree and clipons to fit, plus R1 rearsets extremely cheap off ebay.
I've stripped off fairing and clocks and will be replacing these with single round headlight plus smaller clocks.
4-1 Motad exhaust will be going in favour of a reverse cone or a 4-2 cone set up. Due to the seat recess in tank i am keeping the seat but am in process of taking pillion section off and narrowing and shaping standard foam. Will then make fibreglass cafe seat unit.
Well thats the master plan anyway.lol

Look forward to keeping you updated with progress and getting help when needed.

Hi mate and welcome. I can't be too many miles from you - Bury St Edmunds.

I foolishy sold my 600 and was bidding for it back 3 days ago. The owner sold it before the auction ended though!!!

    Looking for another one!

Your bike looks like it's in the house - a good idea for winter restoration - but not popular with other halfs.

Been throwing ideas round with the seat. As the tank has a recess in it and i dont want to swap tanks i will keep the original seat. I like the comfyness and the lines/shape of the seat.

I've stripped the covering off to see what i'm dealing with. Looks like i can cut the pillion section off and narrow the base and trim foam down to fit, maybe even make seat shallower.
I could then make a fibre glass unit to fit frame and seat. Hopefully!!!!
as i've not actually tried before but if you dont give it a go you never find out.
I know how the cafe theme is hotly contested but its the clean uncluttered look, like the early 80's race XS's. I did look at the TZ seat unit but think this will involve too much modifying of the subframe.Nice reverse cone exhaust would fit with the seat recess. mmm

Anyway onwards and upwards. Cheers guys.

Hi, all , it seems like there are a few U.K. people with FJ600 , I live in Pulborough , West Sussex , U.K. I bought one back in May this year, and I am currently doing a streetfighter project on it, coming along slowly, but getting there nicely, I may ad some pics at a later date , progress report etc.

Um , Matie69, if you are doing away with your Motad, what condition is it in , and would you be selling it ???? ( you can pm me if you want )

    Cheers,

    Neil.

Been looking for exhausts came up with these. Local fab shop reckons he can make these fit.

very reasonably priced but not sure about the quality.Different from usual cone.

Also this for clocks. Looks like it would do the job at a good price but bit dubious on the quality. Always thought you get what you pay for.
